SUMMARY

Supervises and directs activities of parts room personnel for the engineering department.  Responsible for maintaining cost effective inventory controls, including ordering, receiving, inspecting and accounting for all materials and parts used by the Engineering Department.  Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES

Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, ensures the performance of routine and non-routine tasks, including the following: ordering, recording, data entry of source material, and preparing complete and accurate paperwork required for this job.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises, trains, and directs parts room personnel. 
  • Ensures that parts room personnel are properly trained on all operations and procedures of the parts room, including: ordering, recording, data entry of source material, and preparing complete and accurate paperwork. 
  • Inspects the parts storage area daily.
  • Inventory parts and equipment supplies on a weekly basis.
  • Ensures the purchases of all supplies and equipment are within budgetary limitations.
  • Communicates with department head on problem areas.
  • Completes daily/weekly administrative paperwork.
  • Reviews all data entry functions, including the following: daily work sheets, downtime reports, parts ordered and received, etc.
  • Reviews procedures and records to ensure proper use of time and materials.
  • Supervises the delivery and/or pickup orders of material and supplies.
  • Promotes positive employee relations and interdepartmental communication and cooperation.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for all personnel through enforcement of safety policies and procedures, including inspections and periodic safety meetings, etc.
  • Position is responsible for ensuring staff is fully trained in and operates within the parameters of the facility’s Security Program with regards to site and product security.
  • Ensures employee compliance with work rules.
  • Assists with employee training.
  • Makes recommendations on disciplinary action and otherwise participates in the disciplinary action process as necessary.
  • Ensures that work area is clean and organized (like items together and in designated areas).
  • Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Two years or more related supervisory experience.  Must have knowledge of hand tools, shop equipment, measuring tools, etc.  Prior experience in parts inventory.  Ability to operate standard office equipment.  SAP experience.

 

DESIRED EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalency plus no less than two years vocational/technical training in related field.  Equivalent military training, other related technical training or two or more years of college education may be substituted for vocational/technical training.

“Other related technical training” may include the completion of AIB courses in related field.
