Bringing Home the Dough
The Market VP will be responsible for executing local market-specific sales strategies based on guidance from DSD Region SVPs and DSD Region Leads. Market VPs will own and manage all local market-specific DSD sales activities and maintain close contact with Sales Advisors regarding the Company’s business relationship with the Independent Distributors (IDs). Additionally, the Market VP will constantly look for ways to grow business through interaction with key customer accounts. This person will be responsible for coaching and training Area Sales Directors on developing business relationships with IDs. They will also maintain consistent communication with their respective DSD Region Lead to provide perspective on local market-specific successes and areas for improvement.
Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities
Responsible for executing sales strategies based on guidance from DSD Region SVPs and VPs
• Partner with Area Sales Director to execute local sales plans and pursue new business to achieve period and annual goals
• Maintain close contact with VP of Region and provide updates on performance results and competitor activity to ensure talent and sales plans are aligned to business needs and market demands
• Work with Area Sales Director to analyze on-going market reports of customer and product sales data, including competitor activity (pricing, products, promotions, space, position, people, etc.)
• Assist Area Sales Director in selling and general/ID relationship efforts, and provide industry standards and best practices advice to successful execute against plan
• Ensure that Area Sales Director are using and sharing SDW reporting to monitor units and dollar sales, profit margin, and stale to drive business conversations with IDs and customer accounts
• Provide Area Sales Director with proper guidance, direction, and assistance to achieve profit goals and compliance with all applicable policies and procedures (e.g., customer service requirements, equipment, vehicle, warehouse and other sales-related areas, recruitment, retention, orientation, training, discipline, safety, record keeping, EEO, and other HR-related areas)
• Conduct weekly meetings with Area Sales Director to discuss issues related to Area Sales Director and IDs
• Develop and maintain a positive relationship with Area Sales Director and IDs; Coach and mentor Area Sales Director in the understanding and use of available information, including the professional presentation of information/knowledge to our customers and employees to blend Flowers goals with customer/employee goals
• Interact with and visit key customer accounts to build rapport and increase selling opportunities
• Maintain close contact with other DSD Region Leads to stay informed on cross-regional activity and to share key success that could contribute to achieving overall sales growth goals
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Sarbanes – Oxley, Safety, etc.)
• Perform other duties which are deemed to be an integral part of the position, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.
Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in general management or sales
• Past experience as Area Sales Director preferred
