Bringing Home the Dough

This position is responsible for all activities that occur within the manufacturing facility.  The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the short term and long-term operations of his/her plant to ensure that the plant delivers on the expected product quality and output. 

 

The role requires a leader who has the vision, energy, and passion for Supply Chain operations to see opportunities and inspire others to exceed results by motivating, attracting, and retaining top talent, including developing others in the plants into positions with greater responsibility. 

 

Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

Responsible for plant operations activities at an individual plant site, with the following functions:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing company policies, standards, and procedures and complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the achievement of a zero-injury workplace by ensuring safe work conditions for team members and compliance with all state and federal regulations on environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Responsible for all aspects of operations and achieving key performance measurements related to personnel safety, quality and food safety, service, and cost, while continually improving process reliability and performance.
  • Develop and execute programs for the plant site to increase productivity through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for Plant financial P&L performance, directs, manages, and monitors the overall plant operations with general responsibilities for production, engineering, distribution, and other production-related activities.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances of ingredient- materials- and labor usage and works with management team to implement strategies to reduce them.
  • Oversee the preparation of operational schedules and manufacturing activities to ensure that production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Control costs of material, direct/indirect labor, and equipment in accordance to outlined budget, and eliminate waste in the plant (e.g., scrap, downtime, changeovers, shortage, etc.)
  • Manage day-to-day local planning adjustments and execution of the central plan, primarily focusing on production scheduling.
  • Supervise engineering on-site design and supporting construction, operation, improvement and maintenance of manufacturing assets, technologies, and processes.
  • Within scope of responsibility, ensures that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed and maintained for all functions at the plant.
  • Understand, coach and teach the principles of Flowers corporate initiatives including BOF implementation, ERP+ and operational discipline.
  • Build an organization that is customer focused, flexible, and has a strong business acumen.
  • Develop a collaborative and engaged workforce through the adoption of consistent and fair policies, effective communication and an environment of openness and two-way communication with all team members.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Department to develop a succession plan while supporting policy development, employee development, employee engagement and retention
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Sarbanes – Oxley, Safety, etc.)
  • Perform other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the position, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications

• 5 – 7 years’ plant management experience in a CPG manufacturing environment.
