Directs and coordinates all programs to assure quality of company labeled and private labeled products.  Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.  


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs duties of QA Manager in his/her absence.
  • Conducts plant inspections for compliance with good manufacturing practices, including processing, sanitation, inventory control and quality control procedures.
  • Supervise Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation personnel scheduling, vacations, payroll hours, and attendance.
  • Maintain HACCP Program, raw material Certification of Analysis, letters of Continuing Guarantee, and Kosher certification of raw materials.
  • Maintain product formulas and Lot Recall Program.
  • Assist in product reviews.
  • Trained in all Quality Control Technicians functions including microbiological testing, production line testing, and finished product inspecting as well as all Sanitation functions.
  • Manage laboratory and office supplies and inventory.
  • Directs test procedures for the monitoring of product quality attributes and variables. Examine raw materials and/or finished product for impurities and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Coordinates all quality control measure activities with supervisory and hourly personnel. 
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area(s).
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (SOPs, SSOPs, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, HACCP, GMPs, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervision.
  • Ensures that all internal and external food safety and quality policies and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and resolution of customer/consumer complaints.
  • Work routinely with cross functional groups such as R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Maintenance and Operations.
  • Participate in/facilitate internal audit programs and external audits (including Organic, SQF, Non-GMO, Kosher, Sanitation, and Manufacturing audits).
  • Provide technical support in product recalls and withdrawals.
  • Inspect and assign downtime cleaning tasks and for following up to ensure tasks are complete.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety issues.
  • Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.



  • 3 - 5 years experience in food related manufacturing facility.
  • Prior experience as a supervisor or lead food safety technician.
  • Must be knowledgeable in FDA, USDA, EPA, and GMP Guidelines for food manufacturing facilities.
  • Must have a strong understanding of food safety, HACP, GMP, sanitary design/controls, pest control food regulations/specifications and basic food technology.



College degree in Food Science or related field preferred.

Completion of formal management skills training program
