Engineering Superintendent

Under the direction and general supervision of the engineering Director:

Plans, directs, schedules and controls activities of Maintenance Operations.



Assists in the development of annual objectives for capital, maintenance and expense projects in participation with department supervisors. Makes periodic checks to see that objectives are carried out.

Plans, direct, schedules and controls the activities of department supervision to efficiently accomplish departmental work flow, meet deadlines and make maximum utilization of manpower and equipment.

Controls labor costs by analyzing plan and budget reports holding extra costs to a minimum. 

Maintains quality standards by seeing that prescribed inspection procedures are followed. Investigates cause and takes corrective action to keep rework and downtime to a minimum.

Ensures plant facility and equipment are maintained according to standards.

Keeps equipment in good working order assuring a minimum of disruption to production departments. 

Hires, trains, and disciplines employees. Maintains good employee relations and develops employees capable of promotion. 

Appraises and reviews performance of supervisors and monitors and aids in their development. 

Makes PLC and HMI software changes as needed. 

Develops and manages equipment software and documentation program. Upgrades equipment and computer software as needed to maintain current. Ensures all equipment is backed up and cataloged on a regular basis. 

Develops training documents and SOPs to aid in repairs and shop procedures. 

Trains employees in accordance with established training programs and plant procedures.  Demonstrates procedures unique to plant operations. 

Provides additional technical support to the Engineering Department for the repair and maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment.

Researches and recommends replacements for obsolete parts and equipment.

Maintains good employee relations.

Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Promotes established safety programs and insure safe operating procedures, good manufacturing practices and monitor employee compliance.

Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)



5 or more years experience in plant maintenance and engineering supervision.  Demonstrated knowledge in Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning; Refrigeration, Welding, Electronic/Electrical Equipment repair, Industrial Equipment installation, start-up, repair, etc.



Associate Degree in Electronics/Electrical Technology and/or equivalent formal training and work experience Completion of formal management skills training program.
