Support the Environmental Safety and Security (ESS) Director in the development, implementation and sustaining of cost-effective environmental, health, safety, and security programs that ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to EPA, OSHA, and corporate guidelines.  Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive environmental, safety, health, and security program aligned with Division and Corporate business strategy.  Requires constant interaction with other departments throughout the Company including sales centers as needed.  Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.




  1. Work with the department heads on training all employees to make safety a part of their daily work routines.  Ensuring understanding and that the responsibility of safety is part of all employees’ duties.
  2. Responsible for scheduling, conducting training, including classroom and/or hands on, of authorized employees.  Training to include all shifts of the Bakery and/or Sales, new hire orientation and/or annual refresher courses to include environmental and safety programs / policies as required to ensure a safe work environment through understanding and awareness.   
  3. Schedule and conduct annual fire drills as well as oversee and/or conduct First Aid and CPR training
  4. Assist with the development and maintenance of training materials that cover such loss control topics as: hazard communication, emergency action plans, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, incident investigation and hazard analysis, equipment safety and all other related training as requirements are added or updated. 
  5. Maintain compliance records with accurate record keeping for required Governmental reporting agencies such as AMS, DEP, EPA, OSHA and others as may be required. As well as Contractor compliance (legal agreements) to do work for TBC.
  6. Facilitate and coach TBC Employee Safety Committees (ESC). Prepare, type and distribute monthly minutes, including miscellaneous safety-related documents for monthly ESC to include any follow-up to items.
  7. Required to maintain (create/update as needed) written safety programs such as; JHA’s, LO/TO SOP’s etc…
  8. Interface with all manufacturing departments for weekly/monthly/annual safety inspections as required.
  9. Promote safety awareness by creating, issuing, tracking monthly Tool-Box-Talks. 
  10. Work directly with the HR Dept. and outside vendors (as needed) assisting with maintaining TBC’s OSHA 300 logs as required and Safety Postings/Communications as well as complete/assist with safety investigations
  11. Be familiar with all required records and their corresponding regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.).  Assist ESS Director with submitting required reporting on a timely basis and to interface with regulatory agency personnel and loss control service providers.
  12. Responsible for monitoring, ordering and maintaining safety supplies for the Company’s First Aid Stations, Defibrillators (AEDs), and DOT requirements and interfacing with TBC sanitation and safety contractors as needed. 
  13. Assist the ESS Director as needed in conducting Safety and Environmental Audits that ensure compliance with corporate safety and government standards. 
  14. Assist the management team on investigation of injuries and illnesses, helping to report findings to senior management and the management safety committee and all appropriate department heads.  Being an instrumental asset in the implementation of necessary corrective or preventative actions as directed by the ESS Director.
  15. Participate as an active member of TBC Management Safety Committees (MSC). 
  16. Assist ESS Director in ensuring that the facility and all contractors/vendors are in compliance with all of the Federal, State and Local Environmental and Safety Regulations.
  17. For training purposes, must at times, be adaptable to flexible work schedule including weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs.
  18. Clerical/Administrative as needed/back-up to: (SAP/Purchasing interfacing w/finance/accounting)
  19. Maintain a clean and well organized work area.
  20. Other duties as assigned by management 




Requires 2 to 5 years minimal Safety related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of progressive education and experience preferably within an industrial food manufacturing facility.  A degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field is preferred, as well as a strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and experience with effective communications with OSHA CFRs, specifically knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 & EPA 40 CFR regulations.

Requires, 2 plus years of administrative experience. Previous experience in Employee Training/Auditing/Compliance required.  Demonstrated success and/or experience managing within a union environment.  Ability to represent the Department to various levels of management and employees in all types of situations.  Strong sense of urgency.   Ability to problem solve and analyze safety related situations with minimal guidance.  Requires the ability to incorporate creative and innovative approaches to various projects by taking initiative and working independently.  Able to maintain a positive and composed attitude while performing within stressful situations and handling complex issues.    Able to handle sensitive/confidential information.    Must be a team player.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint required and experience with Access and mechanical aptitude preferred.  SAP experience a plus.  Excellent organizational skills required.  Must be self-motivated and demonstrate excellent time management skills and be able to speak publicly.  Self-motivated and able to work within deadlines with minimum supervision required.  Able to perform according to physical requirements.  Able to work a flexible schedule and meet the demands of a 24 hour a day operation.




Physical work requiring lifting to a maximum of 50 pounds*, as well as frequent standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, balancing and carrying.  Exposure to repetitive tasks and motions.  Occasionally exposed to dirty, dusty, and oily working conditions as well as inclement weather. (*For lifting over 50 lbs., you are required to get assistance.)
