Bringing Home the Dough
The Record to Report (R2R) Senior Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end service delivery of centralized financial functions for 60+ US-based entities, including general accounting activities and transactions, general ledger, journal entries, intercompany, bank reconciliations, monthly close, and related reporting, while ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant operations. This role is responsible for managing a team consisting of 2 Coordinators and 12 staff accountants in a multi-generational environment. This role works closely with the VP of Plant Finance to drive improvement opportunities while ensuring process compliance.
This position also requires interaction and collaboration with Controllers, Shared Services, Plant Finance Accounting Support, IT Finance, and accounting personnel at bakery and sales locations. Compliance with the SEC, US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley accounting and reporting regulations, and Flowers Foods' accounting policies and procedures must be consistently maintained.
Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities
• Provide support for accounting and transactional activities for bakery and sales locations across the organization.
• Manage the daily, weekly, and periodic transactional accounting activities for bakeries and sales entities.
• Manage and oversee the month-end close process to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate general ledger postings for account and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of intercompany balancing of sales and purchasing activities for all bakery and sales entities.
• Review and approve the work of Coordinators and Accounting staff.
• Communicate with Controllers, Shared Services, and key stakeholders regarding accounting issues and changes.
• Drive process improvements through standardization, optimization, and automation.
• Maintain SOX, internal controls, and policy compliance.
• Mentor, train, and develop coordinators and accounting staff.
• Develop and manage work schedules and activities, back-up procedures, and staffing requirements to ensure coverage at all times.
• Support requests from Shared Accounting customers for General Ledger and P&L activities.
• Support ad hoc requests, projects, continuous improvement activities, team member training, performance reviews, employee grievances resolutions, etc.
• Participate in key management decisions such as hiring, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, promotions, etc.
• Provide analysis and interpretation of results, along with the preparation of financial and operating reports to provide a basis for management planning and operating controls.
• Review established accounting practices and procedures to ensure Compliance with SEC, US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley accounting, and reporting regulations.
• Perform any additional assignments from the VP of Plant Finance.
• Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).
• Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of related experience, including:
- 6+ years of experience in accounting.
- At least 4 years in a supervisory role managing a team of 10+ staff accountants in a multi-generational environment.
- At least 3 years of experience in staff development, training, and mentoring.
- 3-5 years of experience in shared services or center of excellence operations.
- SAP S4 experience, a plus; and
BlackLine experience a plus.
Additional Ingredients: Essential Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. MBA a plus.
Salary Range- $95,000 - $110,000
