Lead BI Developer

Summary

The Lead BI Developer is responsible for converting raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy to understand dashboards and reports. Must be able to work across multiple teams within the Digital, IT, and business organization including: Domain Leads, Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Business Relationship, Applications, Infrastructure, Operations, and PMO.  The Lead BI Developer must have strong knowledge and experience working within an Agile process and team and have strong communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

    Collaborate with stakeholders and users to understand business challenges, processes, data needs, and data sources.
    Understand business domain areas as needed to help drive best practices and usage of KPIs.
    Convert business requirements to technical specifications.
    Perform data analysis to ensure the delivery of  meaningful insights and visualization that help our business achieve their goals
    Design and create business intelligence dashboards and reports with user experience focus that outline KPIs with visualization and data accuracy.
    Participate in evaluation, implementation and maintenance of business intelligence software and systems, including integrations.
    Provide and execute test and data validation plans and scripts.
    Provide troubleshooting, support and training documentation.
    Advise, consult, mentor and coach other analytic professionals on standards and practices
    Review and analyze current processes and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement
    Work as a trusted advisor to IT and business team members.
    Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of reporting and analytical solutions
    Partner with solutions architects, data engineers, domain leads, product owner, and digital product teams.  
    Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Sarbanes – Oxley, Safety, etc.)

    Perform other duties which are deemed to be an integral part of the position, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.
 

Desired Experience

License - Authorization to work in the United States.  Valid driver’s license.

Mobility - Ability to move or travel to all areas of office, plants, and company related facilities. 

Sensory - Ability to generate written communication, as well as read and analyze correspondence.  Ability to use computer, application software, and other office equipment.  Ability to perform basic computer operations. 

Technical - Must have and preferred knowledge and experience in the following: 
  o    Experience working with a variety of data sources, platforms and connections (SQL, Oracle, cloud resources, SAP BW/ S4/ Enterprisee HANAana), noSQL
  o    Experience with developing solutions in complex environment including cloud computing services and infrastructure in analytics space. 
  o    Experience in Azure and Microsoft environment and resources: Azure data lake, Azure SQL, Synapse or Snowflake, Power BI. 
  o    Worked with variety of BI tools such as SAP BI, Business Objects, Tableau, Power BI, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Looker, Shiny
  o    Experience in publishing dashboards and reports in a Power BI environment.
  o    Experience with SQL queries, filters, DAX, measures, joins.
  o    Passionate about Agile software processes, data-driven development, analytics, and visualization. 
  o    Experience working on a collaborative Agile product team
  o    Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and learning skills
  o    Flexibility to changes in work direction as the project develops
  o    Excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills
  o    Demonstrated strong number sense, intellectually curious and willing to adjust position based on additional information 
  o    Strong work ethic; ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus
  o    Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
  o    Experience with Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics is desired.

Communication - Speech and hearing abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English (in person and via telephone) and/or other language, if required.  Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders, and senior management. Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people to enhance understanding and drive decisions that lead to positive outcomes.  

Attendance - Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.

Other - Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.  Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills. 
 

Desired Education

o    Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science, MIS preferred.
