Bringing Home the Dough

Salary range - $105,000 / year. DOE.

The category advisor – retail ensures that objective insights and recommendations are provided to the company’s retail customers that can increase profitable category sales for the retailer and company. The job functions include but are not limited to assessing category performance, identifying the role that categories serve within the customer’s organization, developing the business strategies to grow profitable sales and to identify tactics in merchandising space plans, assortment, product distribution, promotions and price that will achieve the customers’ category objectives and strategies. In order to develop the best strategies and plans, this position will mine consumer and shopper research to develop key insights and underlying trends, and communicate these insights effectively to customers and the customer support team. The category advisor role identifies process improvements for the space planning or analytics process and the implementation of these process improvements in an efficient and effective manner. Category Advisors validate all strategies and initiatives developed by both the customer & customer support teams. This position is accomplished at presenting to both internal and external partners.

Requires constant interaction with work group and other departments at the primary work location.

Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

• Functions as subject matter expert & insight generation provider for one or more Advisement categories for premier customer.
• Develops insights for premier customer & customer support team to help under-stand the shopper and consumer.
• Provides analytical expertise for customer & customer support teams using all available tools; such as Retail Link, AC Nielsen, IRI, Consumer Panel Data, Sales Data Warehouse.
• Supports development of modular strategy and plans for major category relays.
• Continually measures, monitors and modifies progress against the category business plan.
• Practices and complies with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.). Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications

3+ years experience in Category Management within a CPG manufacturing company
Retailer Shopper cart data systems expertise
Space management software efficiencies
