Bringing Home the Dough
The Regional Director of Labor Relations is responsible for implementing and managing labor relations strategies across the West Coast to support Flowers' operational objectives. This role fosters constructive relationships with union representatives, employees, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with company values and labor agreements. The director plays a key role in contract administration, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Serving as second chair in labor negotiations—with the opportunity to advance to first chair—the position is central to maintaining a collaborative and compliant labor environment.
Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities
Accountable for labor relations activities, with the following functions:
Labor Relations Strategy & Execution
• Implement and support enterprise-wide labor relations strategies at the regional level in alignment with business and HR objectives
• Partner with the Sr Director of Labor Relations with overseeing the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements in the assigned region
• Partner with legal and HR to ensure contract compliance and address grievances and arbitration matters
Union Relations
• Foster constructive relationships with union representatives and unionized employees
• Serve as a liaison between labor unions and company leadership to proactively address concerns and prevent disputes
• Issue Resolution & Risk Management
• Support regional leadership in addressing labor disruptions such as strikes, work stoppages, and other concerted activity
• Provide counsel and risk assessments regarding employee relations issues with potential labor implications
Collaboration & Partnership
• Work cross-functionally with Employee Relations, Legal, Compliance, Security, Supply Chain, Sales, and Corporate Communications to support labor relations initiatives
• Supports Supply Chain and Sales Leadership to foster constructive and productive culture, work environment, and relationships among all Flowers employees in alignment with the company’s mission, vision & values
• Engage with HR Business Partners and operational leaders to reinforce a consistent and fair approach to labor relations
• Compliance & Best Practices
• Monitor federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations to ensure regional compliance
• Communicate regulatory changes and consult on policy implications for unionized environments
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
• Collect and analyze labor relations and workforce data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Lead or support regional organizational assessments and recommend actionable solutions to leadership
Leadership & Culture
• Promote an inclusive and respectful work environment in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, and values
• Coach and support regional HR and operations leaders on labor relations strategies and employee engagement
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested
Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications
- An HR leadership professional with at least 5+ years of HR experience with strategic and operational experience across multiple functions of HR
- 2+ years experience in labor contract administration, arbitration, mediation, and contract negotiations
Additional Ingredients: Essential Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study
- Advanced Degree, such as a Master’s Degree (MS) (preferred)
- Willingness to travel within assigned region as required. (Up to 50%)
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent total rewards package. Salary range - $140,000 -$150,000.
