Senior Procurement Manager - Packaging Sourcing-Paper

Summary

Manage all Paper Based Packaging supplier relationships including contract negotiations and materials movements used in the baking process for all plants within the corporation. 

Lead and direct the corporate Paper Based Packaging team of One (1) individual.

Accountable for an annual spend of $75 Million managing approximately 1,000 materials and 15 suppliers. 

Set strategic sourcing strategies for the Paper Based Packaging Sourcing Category that delivers consistent supplies of materials, drives productivity projects that have a financial impact to the company’s bottom line, supports growth efforts related to the integration of Paper Based Packaging into new plants, new product lines or additional lines at our plants, while hiring, training, and developing our team talent.
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
•    Provide thought leadership to the Packaging Leadership Team for the overarching Packaging Strategy development.
•    Hire, train, develop, and lead the One (1) team members in the Paper Based Packaging team.
•    Create Paper Based Packaging Category Strategies to address growth, productivity, risk management and continuous improvement and development.
•    Establish performance goals and metrics for the Paper Based Packaging team. 
•    Drive and lead the team to develop Productivity initiatives that improve our total cost of ownership and overall efficiencies through RFP’s, alternate supplier development, specification and\or formula optimization, supplier relationship management and negotiation.  Strive for 1-2X benefit of team G&A Expense or 1-2% improvement per year.
•    Establish key cost assumptions for the annual planning cycle that address raw material feed stock inflation/deflation and productivity offsets impacting the respective materials for financial planning purposes.
•    Work with plant inventory fulfillment teams to ensure that they can order, receive, and pay for the respectively managed raw materials on a timely and accurate basis. 
•    Negotiate supplier contracts:  price, volume, service, payment terms with our respective risk management terms and conditions to ensure raw material quality and food safety. 
•    Manage the respective suppliers on issues related to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of raw materials to bakery locations including the establishment of business continuity plans.
•    Gather agricultural commodity and\or raw material feed stock information from various sources and assess its impact on the business. 
•    Ensure that business processes being used support accurate data input into SAP at all levels of the organization. 
•    Participate in the Flowers Foods SLT DASHBOARD Reviews to discuss agricultural and raw material feedstock market information, current coverage positions and financial plan impacts. 
•    Qualify new vendors to supply existing materials. Also evaluate the use of new Paper Based Packaging. 
•    Work on special projects for VP Procurement – Packaging Sourcing or others on the Procurement Leadership Team. 
•    Build and maintain a positive good image of Flowers Foods through personal involvement in the community and through business related activities 
•    Position supports the +ERP DIGITAL SAP integration efforts related to Commodities. 
•    Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.) 
•    Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Desired Experience

• Five - Ten or more years of Procurement experience.

Desired Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
