Senior Product Developer

The position will apply bakery scientific principles in research, development, production technology, quality control, packaging, and processing by performing the following duties. Makes products using accepted formulas and recipes. Utilizes laboratory and/or production equipment to perform test and/or experiments on products. Evaluates and records all results. Conducts necessary literature searches and maintain up-to-date information on technology     affecting assigned project areas. Investigates, develops and integrates assigned project areas, concentrating on bench top or production development; deter-mines the potential for corporate impact of assigned testing and/or project areas on the Company.

Job Responsibilities

● Work as a technical leader and/or a team member in a cross-functional team environment to deliver business needed results.

● Executes the technical aspects of assigned new product projects that include label changes, formula changes, sourcing changes, nutritional labeling, and familiar with the GENESIS program

● Conducts market research on ingredient functionality and cost savings.

● Utilizes bakery science knowledge to formulate and develop unique prototype concepts utilizing both current and future equipment.

● Transfer bench top development to plant scale production to confirm manufacturing process and for-mula.

● Makes recommendations for projects and experimental plans to support continuous improvements in our dough systems and finished goods product quality.

● Coordinates and monitors the performance and evaluation of test and experiments to ensure comple-tion of new product development projects within approved timeframe and standards. Provides work di-rection to all levels of technicians assigned to the project and monitors their progress

● Exercises judgment in performing duties that are broadly defined.  Solution to problems requires the application of established practices.    

● Prepares, reviews and evaluates experimental plans and data. Determines project objectives and de-velops plans for timely completion                   

● Applies basic principles, concepts and practices learned by studying: Food Science, Chemistry, and Biology. Requires thorough knowledge of food ingredients, their function and interaction, company products, laboratory equipment and test procedures.  
● Communicates and explains test procedures, project schedules and plans

● Practices and complies with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sar-banes Oxley, etc.)

• Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable op-erating rules, policies and procedures.





Desired Experience

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience that is food related, preferably in R & D in a bakery.

Desired Education

Bachelor degree required; M.S. in Food Science or related field or significant experience and training beyond B.S. degree with strong science aptitude
